The largest city and capital of the island is Hora, sometimes called Naxos City, with about 12,000 inhabitants. The main villages are Filoti, Apiranthos, Tragea (Chalki), Koronos, Sangri, and Apollonas.
Naxos is a popular tourist destination, with several easily accessible ruins. It has many beautiful beaches, such as those at Agia Anna, Agios Prokopios, Alikos, Kastraki, Mikri Vigla, Plaka, and Agios Georgios, most of them near Hora.

Naxos is the most fertile island of the Cyclades. It has a good supply of water in a region where water is usually inadequate. Mount Zas (1,008 metres) is the highest peak in the Cyclades, and tends to trap the clouds, permitting greater rainfall.

The variety of pictures, with the background of light blue of Aegean Sea will surprise visitors of Naxos. All the streets lead to splendid beaches, under the shadow  of "Portara", the entry of temple of Apollo, that was never completed.

The beach of Agia Anna (Saint Anna) is a sandy beach and is extended enough kilometres. The Small Vigla is ani deal destination for the friends of Surfing and other marine sports. It is a small cape with two splendid beaches, hardly 17hlm of southernly country of Naxos. The Kastraki is continuity of Small Viglas and is an exotic beach. The Plate is immense sandy beach in southerly Naxos with blue waters. It is ideal for in marine sports. You can enjoy your food or drink near the beach.
